i hate thick bureaucracy1
i hate filling out forms
i hate rigid school structure
i hate how airport security does absolutely nothing
i hate how we reduce ourselves to numbers, pieces of plastic, and an expiring booklet that lets us stay on this land and holds our livelihood. then attributing our self-worth to exchanging them back and forth.
i hate formalities. wasting time being fake. not saying what we think. hiding our intentions. pretending to like something. pretending we know more about something. making something sound harder than it is. looking down on someone for not knowing something.
i hate the peer pressure of politics to go vote.2 when no one cares.
i hate meetings where we accomplish nothing but uselessly small talk and 'check in' on a list of things.
i hate how so much of research is fluff and it makes it hard to understand anything. not accelerating human progress through academia because of how stupidly complex it is.
we’re holding back on ourselves by making things more complicated than they should be.
why is there a cycle of startups, small businesses, and initiatives that replace large bureaucratic processes? because things can only get complicated over time instead of simplifying.
cutting the noise is hard. it's easy keeping all friendships and followers and links and files instead of committing to cutting out ones that don’t matter.
we have bureaucratic processes because we have failed to cut out the noise. because we've gathered too many 'friends' to the point where we really have none.
even the spelling of bureaucracy is so unnecessarily complex, i had to look it up
i’ll be the negative nancy
