“password incorrect.”
i stared blankly at the error.
ugh, time to reset my password again.
this recovery email… this isn’t mine…
this is how i lost my twitter account.
and how i envision losing everything once this online system completely breaks
the day ai figures out how bad i am with passwords, how insecure i am about my accounts just as i am with my emotions
draining my bank account, my ssn, my everything. the day the world collapses when it all fails.
people aren’t made to remember passwords, just as they aren’t made to remember arbitrary numbers. they aren’t made to stare at pieces of metal and glass all day.
people are made to be people, go out in the world, explore it, learn from where we are, who we meet. socialize, read emotions, do all the things numbers can’t measure, feel all the things we’ve evolved to feel
i’m curious what the world will look like without screens, without passwords, without pieces of plastic. what the world would look like if it was in harmony with technology.
not a dystopian world invaded by hyper capitalism, or the fearful worlds imagined in black mirror, but a bright future with technology on our side, as our friend in our short time here, a friend we trust.
ai will replace repetitive labor, there’ll be startups that make a lot of money in the coming years, tools made to help us dream farther than we ever could, but it’ll never be born the same as a human being. the most it’ll be is another species, one that is better at things we are not, and worse at some things as us.
we need to figure out how we can share the world with this species or the world will end.
